Delhi Lt Governor T.S. Sandhu engaged with Lok Sabha MPs to enhance development and welfare efforts in the national capital. Sandhu expressed pleasure in meeting the Members of Parliament from Delhi, including Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Bidhuri, and others, for a productive discussion on Delhi’s progress.
Sandhu was sworn in as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on Wednesday at Raj Niwas, succeeding Vinai Kumar Saxena. The oath ceremony, presided over by Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other dignitaries.
Having a background in the Indian Foreign Service, Sandhu served as India’s Ambassador to the United States from 2020 to 2024, contributing significantly to enhancing bilateral ties in defence, technology, and trade. His vast diplomatic experience includes key roles in India’s engagement with the US and the United Nations.
Sandhu’s appointment as Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor is crucial as the city faces significant governance challenges that necessitate effective coordination between the elected government and the Lieutenant Governor’s office.
