The Delhi Metro Police have solved a theft case involving a stolen gold and diamond ring at Chandni Chowk Metro Station by apprehending a 25-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh. The case, registered under FIR No. 80037898/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kashmiri Gate Metro Police Station, was cracked through joint efforts by the Special Staff of Metro Police and the team of PS Kashmiri Gate Metro under the supervision of senior officers, directed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro), B. Bharat Reddy.
The accused managed to evade detection initially by using multiple mobile numbers, misleading residential addresses, and other deceptive methods, posing a challenge for the police. However, after an extensive probe involving scrutiny of CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence development, the woman was identified as a resident of Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh.
Following intensive searches in Vaishali, the accused’s location was pinpointed through a secret tip-off, leading to her successful apprehension and the recovery of the stolen ring. Despite having no prior criminal record, the accused was taken into custody. The Delhi Metro Police highlighted the teamwork, technical expertise, and professional investigation that led to the swift resolution of the case, boosting public confidence in their ability to ensure passenger safety and address theft incidents within the Metro network.
