Even as protests over exam paper leaks continue, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the reopening of all sixteen closed metro stations to the public. The phased reopening began with Mandi House and Central Secretariat stations, followed by Jhandewalan station later in the day. DMRC confirmed on social media that all Delhi Metro stations are now fully operational for passengers.
Since Wednesday morning, sixteen central Delhi Metro stations, including Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk, were shut due to security concerns during the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar. Despite station closures, interchange facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat remained open for transfers.
The closed stations included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, and several others, as security measures were heightened following the protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party. The demonstrations, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over exam irregularities, attracted students, opposition figures, and activists seeking accountability in the education sector.
Amid allegations of police brutality during the protests, the Delhi Police have promised a thorough investigation into the incidents. Security has been bolstered in the area to ensure law and order is maintained. The Cockroach Janata Party also appealed to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, which was part of the campaign calling for Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET paper leak.
