On Braille Day and Louis Braille’s birth anniversary, Delhi Minister for Social Welfare Ravinder Indraj recognized talented students at events held at Braille Bhawan, Rohini, and Seva Kutir, Kingsway Camp. He praised Louis Braille’s significant impact on empowering visually impaired individuals globally. Indraj commended the exceptional skills, confidence, and determination of visually impaired children, emphasizing that success is driven by mindset and perseverance, not physical constraints.
At Seva Kutir, Kingsway Camp, the Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transitioning from “disabled” to “divyang.” He announced a scheme offering Rs 6,000 monthly to support highly dependent individuals with disabilities and inaugurated the Atal Drishti Hostel in Timarpur for visually impaired female college students. Indraj assured continued support through new hostels and assistive devices for underprivileged students, emphasizing Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s dedication to student and disability concerns.
During an event organized by the All-India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) at Braille Bhawan, Rohini, the Minister recognized winners of Braille reading/writing competitions and the Shri Madan Lal Essay Competition in Hindi and English. Students from 19 schools across 11 states participated in these contests, with notable attendees including AICB representatives Jawahar Lal Kaul, Ramesh Prasad Singh, Anil Kumar Aneja, Dinesh Batra, Manjula Rath, Ranju Singh, and Jasmer Singh Pannu.
