Delhi Ministers Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj Singh opted for an electric bus to attend the inauguration of a Public Works Department (PWD) drainage project. Minister Verma highlighted the environmental benefits of traveling together in a single bus, emphasizing fuel conservation and air pollution reduction. The decision was influenced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to save fuel amidst rising global crude oil prices.
Minister Verma mentioned that the bus journey allowed officials to inspect around 20 locations en route, identifying shortcomings and discussing necessary actions with officers. He also referenced the ‘Government on wheels’ initiative launched by the Delhi government a year ago. Addressing waterlogging issues in the capital, Minister Verma emphasized the comprehensive Drainage Master Plan developed by the current government.
Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh detailed the Rs. 43 crore PWD drainage project aimed at providing proper drainage systems to previously unauthorised colonies. Criticizing the previous administration’s neglect of drainage infrastructure, Minister Singh highlighted the comprehensive Rs. 56,000 crore drainage plan introduced by the current BJP government in Delhi.
