New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Developed India 2047”, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman (VC) Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated an art exhibition at Janpath Subway Art Gallery, Connaught Place, an official said on Tuesday.
“Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 – Art Exhibition & Live Painting Workshop” at the subway art gallery was organised by the NDMC in association with Nav Siddharth Art Group.
After lighting the lamp and inaugurating the exhibition, Chahal said that this 10-day art exhibition, organised on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, is inspired by PM Modi’s Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.
“The tricolour is not only our national flag, but a symbol of our collective pride, aspirations and unity. Prime Minister Modi’s Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan has strengthened the emotional attachment to the tricolour in the minds of every citizen. Through this exhibition, NDMC is giving artists a platform to express their feelings through colours and creativity and reaching out to the people in a unique way,” he said.
He said that developed India is not only about economic progress, but also about cultural awareness, national pride and public participation.
Chahal said that more than 50 works by 10 prominent artists have been displayed in this exhibition, themed around the colours of the tricolour, India’s cultural heritage, the freedom movement, and unity, diversity, and a sense of patriotism.
Based on the theme “Art Expression Patriotism”, the exhibition offers visitors a unique artistic experience through the tricolour.
Chahal said that through their paintings and creative expressions, artists have conveyed the sentiments associated with the national flag and the feeling of a confident, vibrant and united India.
This initiative is part of NDMC’s continuous efforts to promote art and culture in public spaces and make cultural activities accessible to common people, he said.
He said that a special highlight of the programme is the “Live Painting Workshop”, where artists will create patriotic paintings using only the colours of the tricolour — saffron, white, green and blue of the Ashok Chakra. This performance will be a powerful artistic expression of unity, independence and the collective spirit of India.
Chahal said that this initiative has transformed an important public space in Connaught Place into a vibrant cultural centre, and it inspires youth, families, art lovers and tourists to participate in tricolour celebrations at every home through creativity.
While interacting with the young artists, Chahal said that they are the creative ambassadors of a developed and culturally rich India.
He called upon the students, young artists and art lovers to actively participate in such initiatives and make art a medium to express their thoughts, feelings and patriotism.
He said that such forums connect the youth with India’s heritage, values and national spirit along with identifying new talents.
He also said that encouraging young artists is an important step towards promoting creativity, innovation and cultural confidence in line with the vision of Developed India 2047.
Art and Culture Adviser Harsh Vardhan Sharma said that NDMC had organised art exhibitions in the subway in 2023 as well, which were later closed for some reason.
Now, through the Department of Arts and Culture, this tradition is being reintroduced to give opportunities to artists and make public spaces more vibrant and culturally attractive.
