Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently conducted a comprehensive review of various initiatives and campaigns launched during ‘Child Protection Month’. This review meeting, attended by Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma and Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, emphasized the importance of child protection as a top priority. Sandhu issued directives for the effective implementation of measures to safeguard children.

The Directorate of Education presented insights on Child Safety and the POCSO Guidelines for Schools during the meeting, as per an official statement. Sandhu highlighted the need for prompt and thorough actions in all cases under the POCSO Act, stressing seamless coordination among relevant departments. He also underscored the significance of counseling and rehabilitation for juvenile first-time offenders, while emphasizing the crucial roles of parents and teachers in ensuring child protection.

In another meeting, Sandhu led discussions on Delhi’s upcoming Master Plan while chairing a session of the Advisory Council of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The focus was on fostering sustainable urban development in the National Capital. Sandhu directed the DDA to maintain a zero-tolerance policy against illegal encroachments and unauthorized constructions, leveraging technology for real-time monitoring to ensure swift enforcement.
