The Delhi Police have apprehended Ravindra Garg in a significant property fraud case. Garg, a proclaimed offender in a prior fraud case, was involved in a deceptive lease deed concerning a residential property, defrauding a visually impaired victim of Rs 14.5 lakh.
A broader scam amounting to nearly Rs 2 crore, encompassing multiple victims, was uncovered during the investigation. The fraudulent activity dates back to December 29, 2025, when a complaint was filed at DBG Road Police Station regarding property leasing deceit.
The accused, Ravindra Garg, enticed the victim, an Indian Railways employee seeking a leased residence, with a property on Joshi Road in Karol Bagh. Garg finalized a Rs 14.5 lakh deal with the victim, executing a notarized lease deed. However, upon the victim’s attempt to take possession, it was revealed that the property had been seized by a finance company due to loan default.
A dedicated police team, led by Randhir Singh and comprising Sub-Inspector Harvinder Singh, Head Constable Suneet Kumar, and Woman Constable Tanisha, investigated the case. Through detailed analysis of call records and technical surveillance, the police tracked down Garg in Nangal Devat village, where he was working as a taxi driver.
Garg, a 51-year-old resident of Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, confessed to duping victims by concealing property mortgage status and offering the same property for lease or sale. He admitted to investing the ill-gotten money in a failed tourist transport business. The police are actively working to recover defrauded funds and identify Garg’s assets for legal action.
