The Welcome Police Station team in Delhi made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a suspect wanted for a severe case involving rape, criminal intimidation, stalking, and offenses under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A 21-year-old woman filed a complaint on April 4, alleging that the man sexually assaulted her in 2023, threatened her with a pistol, recorded the act, and used the video for blackmail. The accused is also accused of repeatedly sexually exploiting and stalking the woman during her tuition classes, along with threatening her and her family.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the victim was a minor at the time of the incident, leading to the addition of Section 6 of the POCSO Act to the case. Despite being on the run since the FIR was filed, the accused was tracked down in Uttarakhand’s Bhagwanpur following a raid conducted by the police team. The 26-year-old accused, a resident of the Welcome area, was successfully apprehended. He has a history of criminal involvement in cases related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and gambling.
The police, under the leadership of Inspector Rupesh Kumar Khatri and the supervision of ACP Bhajanpura Sehdev Kumar Rana, worked diligently on the case. Various investigative techniques, including technical surveillance, call detail record analysis, social media monitoring, and local intelligence gathering, were employed to trace the accused. Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) were issued against him, and steps to declare him a Proclaimed Offender under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) were initiated.
