The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch apprehended Kapil Kumar Paswan, a 22-year-old wanted criminal from Bihar, who had been evading authorities for over a year in connection with murder and attempt to murder cases involving firearms. Paswan, a resident of Madhubani district, was hiding in Delhi under a false identity and working as a sweeper at a roadside dhaba in South East Delhi to avoid arrest.
Paswan was wanted in serious criminal cases at Rajnagar and Rahika police stations in Madhubani district, one related to murder and the other to an attempt to murder. Despite being under covert watch for two days, he managed to evade interception multiple times. The Crime Branch then devised a decoy operation to capture him, successfully apprehending him with the help of a well-executed plan.
During interrogation, Paswan revealed details of his absconding, which began in March 2025 after a violent incident in his native village involving a property dispute. He was accused of opening fire on a local resident, resulting in death, and later attempting to eliminate a potential witness through another shooting incident. His co-accused had been previously arrested, but Paswan managed to stay hidden until his recent arrest in Delhi.
Police disclosed that Paswan is wanted in specific cases registered at PS Rajnagar and PS Rahika under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. His arrest marks the end of his year-long evasion from the law, bringing closure to the pending criminal cases against him.
