The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police for purportedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a complainant involved in a property dispute. The arrested individual, identified as ASI Sunder Pal, was stationed at the C.R. Park police station.
A case was filed by the CBI after claims surfaced that the accused had requested an illicit payment of Rs 25 lakh from the complainant. Allegedly, he promised to resolve the property conflict and prevent any legal repercussions against the complainant. Acting on the allegations, the agency set up a sting operation on the same day, catching the accused red-handed while accepting Rs 10 lakh as part of the total bribe amount.
Following the trap operation, the bribe money was seized, and the accused was promptly taken into custody. The CBI clarified that the arrest was conducted in accordance with legal procedures, with ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the full scope of the alleged scheme and identifying potential accomplices. Search operations and legal formalities are currently underway as part of the investigative process.
