The Crime Branch of Delhi Police uncovered a factory-cum-godown engaged in producing, storing, and selling counterfeit RO filters of top brands like Kent, Aquaguard, and Havells. A total of 2,932 fake RO filters, along with packaging materials and machinery for branding, were seized during the operation. The owner of the facility, identified as Mohd. Tabrej, was apprehended on-site.
The Anti Robbery and Snatching Cell (ARSC) had been monitoring a syndicate suspected of manufacturing and selling fake RO filters of reputed companies in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Acting on specific intelligence, a team raided the premises in Pul Prahladpur, Delhi, where the counterfeit filters were stored and sold. Mohd. Tabrej, the owner, was found at the location and subsequently arrested.
The recovered items included a significant number of counterfeit RO filters, membranes, and packaging materials bearing the logos of Kent, Aquaguard, and Havells. Representatives from the respective companies confirmed the seized products were indeed fake. Mohd. Tabrej was taken into custody following the confirmation, with a total of 2,932 counterfeit RO filters confiscated from the site.
Investigators have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Copyright Act, and the Trademark Act at the Crime Branch Police Station. The seized items comprised 1,928 Kent RO filters, 738 Aquaguard filters, and 266 Havells filters, along with filter caps, packaging materials, and machines used for packaging the fake products. Efforts are ongoing to unravel the broader network involved in the illicit production and distribution of counterfeit RO filters.
