The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled a significant module that was plotting attacks in Delhi and Mumbai. Nine individuals, with connections to the Dawood Ibrahim syndicate, have been apprehended, including individuals from Mumbai, Delhi, and some foreign nationals. The arrested individuals were targeting critical sites like nuclear installations, airports, and railway stations, with a substantial amount of arms and ammunition seized by the police.
This operation is deemed crucial as the apprehended individuals were orchestrating high-value attacks, prompting security agencies to closely monitor them for several months. The module’s disruption was a result of actionable intelligence received by the police. There have been growing concerns over the ISI’s efforts to escalate domestic operations for executing attacks within India.
According to an Intelligence Bureau official, the ISI has been leveraging the Dawood Syndicate to establish local modules in India. Following the arrests, a heightened state of alert has been declared in Delhi and its neighboring regions. This development follows the recent shutdown of a similar module in Faridabad, emphasizing the persistent threat in these areas.
Recent warnings from the Intelligence Bureau highlighted the risk of IED attacks, suicide strikes, and shooting incidents by lone wolf actors in Delhi and nearby regions. District units have been instructed to maintain vigilance and collaborate closely with central agencies. In response to increased threats, India has adopted a stringent stance, declaring that any act of terrorism originating from Pakistan will be considered an act of war, not merely cross-border terrorism.
