Delhi Police have submitted a detailed chargesheet against 18 adults and 2 minors regarding the death of a 26-year-old man in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi, during this year’s Holi celebrations. The victim, Tarun Khatik, was fatally attacked near his home after a minor incident escalated into a violent clash. The chargesheet, spanning 500 pages, lists serious charges including murder, unlawful assembly, rioting, and offenses under the SC/ST Act.
The incident, which occurred on March 4, started with a water balloon hitting a woman from a different community, sparking a dispute between two groups. Following a heated argument, the situation turned violent, leading to the fatal assault on Tarun. The police have identified two minors allegedly involved in the incident, with proceedings against them to be held separately under juvenile laws.
The chargesheet also includes provisions from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, such as Section 95 and 103(2), in addition to the existing charges. Authorities have issued non-bailable warrants against two absconding suspects. The case, rooted in neighborhood tensions, spiraled out of control during Holi festivities, resulting in a tragic loss of life. Investigations are ongoing, with legal proceedings progressing in the Dwarka Court.
