The Delhi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) following reports that an unpublished book titled ‘Four Stars of Destiny’, written by former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane, is being shared online without official clearance. Social media and news forums highlighted the availability of a pre-print version of the book on the internet before obtaining necessary publishing approvals.
A preliminary investigation by the police uncovered a type-set PDF copy of the book, with the same title, seemingly prepared by Penguin Random House India Private Limited, accessible on specific websites. Furthermore, certain online platforms were found displaying the book’s final cover, suggesting it was already up for sale.
Due to the sensitivity of the situation, particularly considering the author’s past role as the Army Chief, the case has been handed over to the Special Cell of Delhi Police for further investigation into the alleged leak or breach. Authorities are looking into the source of the manuscript leak, the individuals responsible for uploading it online, and the potential involvement of any organized network in distributing the unauthorized material.
In light of recent events where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was photographed holding a copy of the book in the Parliament complex, a significant political controversy ensued, resulting in disruptions during Lok Sabha proceedings and the suspension of eight Members of Parliament for the remainder of the ongoing Budget session.
