In a significant move against interstate liquor smuggling, the Delhi Police’s South District team uncovered an illegal liquor operation in the Maidan Garhi area. During a thorough check at Jheel Khurd Picket, the police intercepted a vehicle carrying 57 boxes of country-made and IMFL liquor intended for unlawful sale in Delhi. The driver, identified as Balraj @ Balle, was apprehended, and legal action has been initiated.
The seized liquor haul included 2,836 quarters of country-made and IMFL liquor. The police confirmed the recovery of seven boxes of Royal Green Whisky and 50 boxes of Desi Sharab, totaling the mentioned quarters. The accused, Balraj @ Balle, with a history of excise-related offenses, was found to be involved in more than five cases under the Delhi Excise Act.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Delhi Excise Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the illicit liquor, the ownership of the seized vehicle, and the broader smuggling network. The operation was carried out by a police team under the supervision of the SHO, Police Station Maidan Garhi, and the overall monitoring of the ACP, Mehrauli.
Sustained vigilance and continuous checks by the police led to the successful seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit liquor and the arrest of a habitual offender. Further inquiries are being conducted to identify other individuals involved in the illicit liquor supply chain.
