Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended two associates linked to the notorious Hashim Baba gang in separate operations. Among them is Shadab Ahmad, a key accused wanted in a murder case, who was captured in the Gadi Mendu area near Signature Bridge. Recovered from him were a loaded semi-automatic pistol and live cartridges. Shadab, a nephew of incarcerated gangster Suhail Chappal, faces charges related to murder and attempt to murder.
The arrests were conducted by the New Delhi Range team of the Special Cell to combat organized crime in the capital. Shadab, aged 28 and a resident of Jafarabad, had been evading authorities for two years. Another gang member, Mohd. Adi, was also apprehended earlier for his involvement in criminal activities. Adi, aged 24 and residing in Jafarabad, was found with a loaded semi-automatic pistol and live cartridges. He was reportedly scouting targets for extortion on behalf of jailed gangsters Asad and Danish.
The police have registered cases against both individuals under the Arms Act and other relevant provisions. Shadab, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in a separate case, was involved in a fatal shooting incident in Seelampur. The attack, stemming from personal animosity, resulted in the death of a member of a rival gang. Investigations indicated that the motive behind the murder was linked to prior altercations involving Suhail Chappal.
