Delhi Police has heightened security measures in the national capital ahead of Republic Day, deploying over 30,000 personnel across the city. Nearly 10,000 officers are stationed in the New Delhi district, which hosts the ceremonial parade route and key security installations. Additional Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar Mahala emphasized the comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Elaborating on the security preparations, around 10,000 police officers are specifically assigned to the New Delhi region, with checkpoints, barricades, and standard protocols in place. Detailed briefings have been provided to all officers regarding deployment plans, specific duties, and emergency responses. Rehearsals and drills have been conducted to ensure preparedness for any situation.

To enhance safety, more than 3,000 CCTV cameras with advanced video analytics and Facial Recognition System capabilities have been installed in New Delhi. Live monitoring of the footage is carried out 24/7 through over 30 control rooms manned by trained personnel. Additionally, police personnel on the ground are equipped with AI-enabled glasses integrated with facial recognition and video analytics technology.

The security framework includes multiple layers of barricading, stringent checks, and frisking at entry points, and strict access control along the parade route and surrounding areas. Mobile monitoring vehicles with Facial Recognition System technology have been strategically positioned for increased surveillance and mobility. Sniper teams have been deployed on rooftops in various districts as part of the heightened alert.

Detailed route inspections and anti-sabotage checks have been conducted by deputy commissioners of police. Security has been intensified in crowded areas like markets, bus terminals, metro stations, and railway stations. Tenant and domestic help verification drives are also being carried out as part of the overall security measures.

Coordination meetings with police forces from neighboring states have been held to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and preparedness. Citizens are urged to adhere to security advisories and avoid carrying prohibited items. Seating enclosures have been named after rivers, and visitors are advised to be familiar with their designated enclosure, approach road, and entry gate to prevent inconvenience.
