The Rugby Premier League Season 2 witnessed Delhi Redz securing the first-ever Women’s title by defeating Chennai Bulls 22-10 at the Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad. The women’s competition featured 48 players, including 24 international stars from 10 countries, competing for a total prize purse of ₹40 lakh. Delhi Redz took home ₹25 lakh as champions, with the runners-up receiving ₹15 lakh.
Delhi Redz took an early lead in the match, with Lavena Cavuru scoring on the left wing. Despite efforts from Chennai Bulls, Muskan Piploda managed to score for them in the second quarter. Eden Kilgour responded swiftly for Delhi, maintaining their lead. While the Bulls dominated possession in the third quarter, they couldn’t convert it into points. Delhi sealed their victory in the final period with Silika Qalo and Isadora Lopes adding late tries.
In the men’s competition, Hyderabad Heroes started strong with Diego Ardao scoring first. Despite efforts from Delhi Redz, Elias Hancock leveled the scores before Taitaifono Tavita and Ravuama Seruvakula extended the Heroes’ lead. Hyderabad secured a win with additional tries from Wolfram Hacker. Although Delhi fought back with late scores, the Heroes managed to hold on for the victory.
Bengaluru Bravehearts dominated the men’s section with early leads from Zain Davids and Akuila Rokolisoa. Shilton van Wyk, Ngarohi McGarvey, Ganesh Majhi, and Magomederassul Magomedov added more tries for Bravehearts in a comfortable victory over Mumbai Dreamers. Chennai Bulls also secured a win against Kolkata Banga Tigers with Filipe Sauturaga and Taualai Panoa leading the charge.
