Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced plans for a dedicated bus service from Badarpur Border Metro Station to the upcoming Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2026. This move aims to ease travel for the large influx of visitors expected at the renowned cultural and handicrafts festival held in Haryana’s Faridabad. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will run this special route experimentally from January 31 to February 15 to ensure hassle-free commuting and prevent issues like overcrowding and overcharging by private vehicles.
To enhance inter-state travel convenience, DTC has collaborated with the Haryana Transport Department for seamless bus operations during the mela period. Two electric nine-meter buses will operate on this route covering approximately 4 kilometers, connecting commuters from Badarpur Border Metro Station to Surajkund Mela Ground. The route will include key stops like Badarpur Metro Station, Badarpur Border, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Prahladpur, Surajkund Chowk, and Manav Rachna School, offering commuters easy last-mile connectivity from the metro network.
These eco-friendly electric buses not only aim to reduce congestion but also promote sustainable and comfortable transport for visitors. Operating at frequent intervals throughout the day, the buses will depart from Badarpur Border Metro Station to Surajkund Mela every 20 minutes between 10 a.m. and 2:35 p.m. In the return direction, buses will run from 10:20 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. Minister Singh highlighted that the detailed timetable will be prominently displayed at metro stations, bus stops, and the mela premises for passenger convenience.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve accessibility to the mela, encourage public transport usage, alleviate traffic congestion, and provide a safe and cost-effective travel alternative for the thousands of daily visitors. Minister Singh emphasized the importance of offering safe and affordable public transport options to ensure a seamless travel experience for families and tourists attending the prestigious Surajkund Mela. The dedicated DTC bus service is designed to provide convenient last-mile connectivity while promoting clean and eco-friendly mobility.
