A Delhi University Assistant Professor was discovered murdered in her flat in Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi. The incident was reported to the police on June 4, prompting a thorough investigation. The victim, identified as Devosmita Paul, lived alone in the apartment.
Upon receiving a distress call, the police arrived at the scene where the victim’s sister, Devarati Paul, informed them about the tragic discovery. Devosmita Paul, who taught at Shivaji College, University of Delhi, had been unresponsive to calls, leading her sister to break into the locked flat and find her deceased sibling.
Authorities conducted a detailed inspection of the crime scene, collecting forensic evidence and documenting the area. The police are now scrutinizing CCTV footage to identify individuals who visited the flat in the days preceding the incident. Additionally, they are gathering information on delivery personnel and other potential visitors as part of the ongoing investigation.
The deceased had been residing alone in the flat for several years, relying mainly on online deliveries for daily necessities. The police have shifted the body to LBS Hospital for preservation and post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and multiple police teams are actively working to locate and apprehend the perpetrator.
