The Department of Posts has upgraded its ATM network by activating 887 ATMs throughout the country, aiming to improve the accessibility and user-friendliness of banking services. These ATMs, situated in various post offices, enable citizens to conveniently access essential banking services in their vicinity. Particularly beneficial for residents in rural and underserved areas, this initiative aligns with the government’s goal of promoting financial inclusion through digital advancements.
According to a Ministry of Communications statement, customers can now easily withdraw cash, check account balances, and conduct basic banking transactions through these ATMs. The Department of Posts encourages all citizens to utilize their ATM services available nationwide. Additionally, the Department achieved a significant milestone by processing its first online order via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
On January 13, the Department, functioning as a Logistics Service Provider, successfully fulfilled an order placed by UdyamWell, an ONDC-supported initiative aiding Bharatpreneurs, including artisans, farmers, and rural entrepreneurs. This accomplishment signifies a crucial advancement in the Department’s endeavor to provide digitally integrated and interoperable logistics services across the nation. Sellers utilizing ONDC-enabled buyer applications can now opt for the Department of Posts for parcel pickup, booking, transportation, and delivery, leveraging its extensive postal network that extends to even the most remote regions.
