Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, without naming Shiv Sena-UBT Chief Uddhav Thackeray, accused the opposition of exploiting Mumbai while the government protects it. Shinde pointed out that certain individuals show concern for Mumbai and the Marathi community only during elections. He urged the Shiv Sena-UBT to be accountable for their actions towards the city and its residents.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the displacement of Marathi-speaking people from Mumbai under the previous administration’s policies. He emphasized the current government’s efforts to bring them back. Shinde criticized emotional appeals and urged the opposition to showcase their developmental work instead of misleading the public.
Shinde condemned the criticism aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as politically motivated and reprehensible. He expressed confidence in the Mahayuti alliance’s success in the upcoming Thane Municipal Corporation elections. Shinde challenged the opposition to identify significant development projects completed during their tenure.
The Deputy Chief Minister listed the government’s accomplishments, such as pothole-free roads, Metro network expansion, completion of the Mumbai Coastal Road, and infrastructure project revivals. He highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision to establish Mumbai as a Global Fintech Hub, attracting substantial investments to Maharashtra. Shinde criticized the opposition for stoking Marathi-Gujarati disputes and urged a focus on developmental politics.
