Preparations are in full swing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Somnath on May 11 for the ‘Somnath Amrit Parv’. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi recently conducted a ground inspection of the proposed roadshow route and reviewed arrangements at Sagar Darshan in Gujarat. The Prime Minister is set to visit the historic Somnath Temple, where various official programs are scheduled as part of the event.
Sanghavi meticulously inspected the route from the helipad to Hamirji Gohil Circle and then proceeded to the temple premises, covering the entire designated roadshow stretch. He assessed security deployment, traffic regulation, barricading, road infrastructure, and crowd movement planning during the inspection. Officials were instructed to ensure coordinated efforts across departments for a smooth execution of responsibilities.
Following the on-site assessment, a comprehensive review meeting took place at Sagar Darshan. Senior officials discussed arrangements for the Prime Minister’s arrival and departure routes, roadshow and public meeting venues, parking facilities, traffic management systems, crowd control measures, and medical and emergency services. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized seamless integration of planning and execution to maintain order and security during movement and public gatherings.
Given the summer conditions, special focus was placed on heat mitigation measures. Preparations such as installing water sprinklers, setting up drinking water points, and providing buttermilk were reviewed to ensure the comfort of citizens expected to gather along the route and at the program venues. The meeting was attended by various dignitaries, including Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani, Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Vaja, Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia, State Energy Minister Kaushik Vekariya, MP Rajesh Chudasama, and MLAs Bhagwan Barad and Aniruddh Dave, along with senior administrative officials.
These reviews and inspections mark the final stages of preparation leading up to the Prime Minister’s visit to the coastal temple town of Somnath. The visit is anticipated to draw significant public participation during the scheduled programs.
