Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, commended the significant role played by Christian educational institutions in fostering education in the country and the state. Speaking at the College Day celebration by Jyoti Nivas Educational Institution in Bengaluru, he highlighted the institution’s 60-year legacy of producing accomplished individuals who have excelled globally.
Shivakumar stressed the value of education and effective communication, emphasizing that being an example for others is more challenging than giving examples. He shared his educational journey, starting from a small village in Kanakapura to becoming an MLA after completing his degree at the age of 46, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and growth.
Advocating for the empowerment of women leaders, Shivakumar pointed out the existing reservations in politics and local bodies, expressing hope for the college to nurture future female leaders. He emphasized the significance of humility, acknowledging the importance of staying connected to one’s roots for achieving success. Shivakumar also highlighted the necessity of sharing knowledge and talent for collective progress.
Reflecting on the evolving technological landscape, Shivakumar noted the rapid changes driven by AI and the need for continuous learning, especially in the digital era. He praised the knowledge-sharing culture and emphasized the importance of both knowledge and wealth distribution for societal advancement. Shivakumar also highlighted Bengaluru’s global recognition for its talent pool and cultural richness.
