Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda directly called out Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the Bidadi Township matter. Deve Gowda urged Siddaramaiah to conduct an inquiry into the controversy surrounding the Bidadi township. He emphasized the need for an investigation into the ownership of approximately 20,000 acres of land near Bengaluru.
Deve Gowda, speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, highlighted concerns about the targeting of fertile agricultural land for a township project. He questioned the purpose behind acquiring such land and raised issues regarding the welfare of farmers in the region. Deve Gowda also criticized the alleged attempts to take away irrigated lands that were beneficial to the local farmers.
The former Prime Minister urged Siddaramaiah not to succumb to pressure and to uphold justice for the common people. He emphasized the importance of protecting the lands of poor individuals around Bengaluru and vowed to fight against any irregularities, including those involving the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). Deve Gowda invited Siddaramaiah to visit the region personally to witness the situation and address the grievances of the affected farmers.
Deve Gowda also hinted at possessing information about land acquisitions in Kanakapura, without directly naming Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar. He criticized the concentration of multiple responsibilities in a single individual, hinting at potential ulterior motives. Deve Gowda expressed his determination to combat any exploitation of farmers’ lands for commercial interests, particularly in the Bidadi area.
