Lakhs of devotees congregated at river ghats nationwide on Maghi Purnima, participating in sacred rituals with immense faith and enthusiasm. In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the Sangam witnessed a remarkable turnout from early morning, with pilgrims arriving since the previous night for the auspicious snan at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers during the ongoing Magh Mela.
Magh Mela Officer Rishi Raj mentioned a continuous influx of devotees since the early hours, with around 90 lakh pilgrims having taken the holy bath by 8 a.m. The district administration ensured extensive arrangements for crowd management, sanitation, medical facilities, and traffic diversions to facilitate a smooth flow of activities.
Security measures were rigorously implemented, with police personnel stationed at major ghats and entry points, monitoring crowd movement through CCTV cameras and drones. The overall situation remained peaceful, with no untoward incidents reported till the latest update. Maghi Purnima also witnessed significant gatherings at pilgrimage sites like Ayodhya, Haridwar, Varanasi, Bhagalpur, Narmadapuram, Raebareli, and Farrukhabad, where devotees partook in the sacred bathing rituals.
In Prayagraj, the Railways organized special trains, additional ticket counters, and a 24-hour mela control room to manage the high passenger influx during the main bathing day of the Magh Mela.
