The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating a tail-strike incident involving an Air India flight at Bengaluru airport. The Air India flight AI2651, carrying 179 passengers, suffered a tail strike during landing, leading to its grounding for inspection. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew disembarked without issues.
Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded for a detailed inspection, and the return flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi was canceled. Air India assured that alternative arrangements are being made to accommodate affected passengers promptly. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu mentioned that the investigation into the crash of Air India Flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad, which resulted in 260 fatalities, is nearing completion.
Emphasizing the importance of transparency in the probe, Naidu stated that the final report would undergo international scrutiny due to the presence of foreign nationals on the ill-fated flight. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) had submitted its preliminary findings to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation on July 12, 2025. Responding to concerns over communication and compensation delays raised by victims’ families, Naidu assured that the ministry is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with Air India.
