After India’s victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad, a touching interaction between MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir delighted cricket fans. The camaraderie between the two former cricket stars was evident in their recent celebrations, marking a shift from past controversies. Dhoni, present at the Narendra Modi Stadium, congratulated the team on Instagram and shared a playful message with Gambhir, who is now India’s head coach.

Gambhir, celebrating his first ICC T20 World Cup win as head coach, warmly acknowledged Dhoni’s comment, emphasizing the joy of their encounter. Dhoni, who also joined Rohit Sharma in the post-match celebrations, witnessed India’s comprehensive victory over New Zealand in the final, where they posted a formidable total of 255/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson’s explosive 89 off 46 balls and contributions from Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan propelled India to one of the highest scores in a T20 World Cup final.

India’s bowlers efficiently dismissed New Zealand for 159 runs in 19 overs, securing a dominant 96-run win to clinch the championship. Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, joined an exclusive group of leaders, including Kapil Dev, Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Harmanpreet Kaur, who have guided India to an ICC title in senior men’s and women’s cricket.
