Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh urged Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to conduct a high-level inquiry into the tragic drowning of three minor tribal girls in Raisen district. The incident occurred on May 23 in a tribal-dominated village in Gairatganj tehsil.
The girls, identified as Radha Gond, Tanu Gond, and Amrita Gond, aged between 12 and 13, drowned in a well while fetching water. Singh highlighted the failure of the drinking water supply system, emphasizing the need for accountability and strict action against responsible officials.
Singh described the incident as a result of administrative apathy and demanded immediate measures to address the drinking water crisis in rural areas of Raisen district. He called for a thorough review of tap water schemes to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The tragic incident shed light on the dire drinking water situation in the region, especially during the summer months. The girls, who were close friends, tragically lost their lives while trying to fetch water from a well near their village.
