The district administration in Kedarnath has ramped up eco-friendly and cleanliness initiatives along the pilgrimage route by implementing modern waste management systems. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra has called on pilgrims to actively participate in these cleanliness campaigns.
Efforts are ongoing to maintain cleanliness, greenery, and environmental sustainability during the pilgrimage to Shri Kedarnath Dham. Special attention is being given to sanitation and solid waste management from the trekking path to the temple premises, with comprehensive arrangements in place.
To efficiently handle dry waste, Kedarnath Nagar Panchayat is using a modern baling machine that compresses waste into compact bales, facilitating easier transportation and recycling. An MRF center at the Dham is systematically collecting, segregating, and recycling dry waste, with around 500 kilograms processed into bales, expected to yield revenue of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
District Magistrate Vishal Mishra has issued specific directives to uphold cleanliness in and around the shrine, reinforcing sanitation infrastructure along the entire pilgrimage route to Kedarnath. He has also urged devotees to refrain from littering and back eco-friendly practices.
The ongoing Char Dham Yatra has attracted a significant number of devotees this season, with over 660,000 pilgrims completing the journey thus far. The Char Dham circuit in Uttarakhand, comprising Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, is a revered Hindu pilgrimage route in the Garhwal region, each site holding profound religious importance.
