A recent incident on a Mumbai suburban local train has sparked worries about passenger safety when a man allegedly threatened another commuter’s life during a dispute. The accused, identified as Ramzan Fakir Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, also known as Ibba, was arrested by the LTT Railway Police after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.
The altercation, involving the accused who was reportedly heavily intoxicated, occurred on June 29, 2026, on a Mumbai local train traveling in the ‘Down’ direction near Govandi station. The confrontation, which took place between Govandi and Chembur stations, led to the accused threatening the life of a fellow passenger over a trivial matter.
Following the incident, captured on video and shared on social media, the LTT Railway Police initiated an investigation. The accused was tracked, detained, and subsequently arrested outside Reay Road railway station. Legal proceedings are now in progress as authorities address growing concerns about passenger safety on Mumbai’s local train network.
The recent episode adds to existing worries after a fatal stabbing incident on a Churchgate-Nallasopara fast local train, where a 22-year-old passenger lost his life following an argument over keeping a coach door open during heavy rain. The victim, Mayank Lohar, was fatally stabbed by another passenger, Roshan Suvarna, between Andheri and Borivali stations, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced safety measures on Mumbai’s local trains.
