Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, conducted a high-level meeting in Srinagar to assess readiness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments and telecom service providers like BSNL, Jio, Airtel, and G-Max. Emphasis was placed on speeding up registrations for 28,000 service providers and ponies, with a deadline set for May 30 for RFID card generation.
Reviewing the pony stands’ development, it was reported that essential infrastructure work, including fencing and shed construction, has been finished. Health check-ups for ponies and ensuring sufficient fodder along yatra routes were also discussed. The Divisional Commissioner addressed telecom connectivity issues, directing companies to ensure uninterrupted services during the pilgrimage.
To facilitate pilgrims, officials were instructed to enhance staff at registration counters and rationalize their distribution across districts. Safety audits for tent allotments at base camps were reviewed, along with progress on various developmental projects by different agencies. The 57-day-long Amarnath Yatra is scheduled from July 3 to August 28, attracting pilgrims to the cave shrine in the Kashmir Himalayas.
