The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has granted a five-day extension to its poll debacle review committee to finalize the assessment of its performance in the recent Assembly elections. The review committee, established by DMK President M.K. Stalin after the electoral setback, is analyzing the factors contributing to the defeat and suggesting ways to fortify the party for future political challenges. The committee, comprising 38 members, is engaging with party workers, candidates, and functionaries across Tamil Nadu to gather insights on campaign flaws and voter sentiments.

Accepting the committee’s request for more time to gather feedback, the DMK leadership has pushed the report submission deadline from June 5 to June 10. The committee is conducting in-depth consultations with district-level leaders, grassroots workers, and election candidates to understand local issues and organizational weaknesses that impacted the election results. The party has also launched an online portal to gather suggestions and opinions from party members and the public on the reasons behind the electoral setback, receiving a substantial response of nearly five lakh submissions.

The DMK’s review initiative aims to address concerns raised by party workers and supporters post the election defeat, with the report expected to outline organizational reforms and political strategies for future elections. The leadership considers this review process crucial for rebuilding the party and regaining political momentum in the state. The committee is set to present its findings to the party leadership by June 10, providing a roadmap for the party’s future direction.
