Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of US President Donald Trump, is currently in South Korea for a four-day business trip. This marks his second visit to the country since his father began his second term as President. Trump Jr.’s visit comes at a time of global uncertainty, with various issues between Seoul and Washington, including South Korea’s significant investment pledge to the US and US restrictions on intelligence sharing about North Korea.
During his previous visit in April last year, Trump Jr. engaged in closed-door meetings with top Korean business leaders to explore potential partnerships in shipbuilding, defense, and energy sectors. South Korean business circles sought to establish connections with the Trump administration through his visit. Business leaders from various industries have shown interest in meeting with him one-on-one.
Trump Jr. is known to have a close relationship with Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin, who facilitated his previous visit. On this trip, Trump Jr. plans to attend a concert celebrating the release of Chung’s wife’s debut album. Chung, known for his ties to Trump Jr., was invited to President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate and attended his inauguration with his wife.
