In Hyderabad, a significant theft occurred as the driver of an ATM cash replenishment van absconded with Rs 17 lakh, the police reported. The incident unfolded on the Rein Bazaar–Santosh Nagar Main Road within the jurisdiction of IS Sadan Police Station while the cash was being transported for ATM refilling. Allegedly, the driver took off with Rs 17 lakh from a cash box inside the van, displaying careful planning and execution.
The accused driver, after seizing the cash, fled the scene on a two-wheeler, leaving behind the van. In response, the IS Sadan Police initiated a case and launched an investigation. Police authorities are scrutinizing CCTV footage in the area to track the suspect’s movements, with special teams formed to locate and apprehend the perpetrator. Suspicions of an insider’s involvement have led to an investigation to identify potential accomplices of the driver.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Hyderabad, Sub-Inspector V. Narsimhulu from Gandhi Nagar Police Station was caught red-handed accepting a bribe. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended the officer when he demanded Rs 1 lakh and received Rs 50,000 as part of the bribe. The ACB revealed that the officer sought the bribe to facilitate station bail and prevent future harassment in a case against the complainant. The tainted bribe amount was seized from the officer, who was arrested and presented before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases. The investigation is ongoing, and the complainant’s details remain undisclosed for security reasons, as stated by the ACB.
