In a joint operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Chandigarh Police cracked down on a drug trafficking module in Kharar, Punjab. During the operation, 93 grams of methamphetamine and 10 grams of heroin were found in a vehicle used by a practicing advocate. Subsequent searches at a flat in Kharar led to the discovery of an additional 700 grams of methamphetamine and 250 grams of poppy straw, totaling 793 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of heroin, and 250 grams of poppy straw.
A woman living with the accused was detained and later arrested for her involvement in the offense. The quantity of methamphetamine seized was 16 times the commercial limit under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Investigations revealed the accused’s prior involvement in a case registered at a Chandigarh police station. The probe unveiled a well-organized drug trafficking network with connections to a Pakistan-based syndicate.
The NCB encouraged the public to aid in combating drug trafficking by reporting information to the MANAS-National Narcotics Helpline at 1933. Informants’ identities are kept confidential to support the fight against drug-related crimes.
