DYFI Vadakara Block President Ribesh Ramakrishnan has resigned from his position ahead of questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the ‘Kafir screenshot’ case that stirred controversy during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign in Vadakara, Kerala.

The case, which caused a political uproar, involved a fake social media post with the term ‘Kafir’, considered offensive as a religious slur, targeting UDF candidate Shafi Parambil during the election campaign.

The SIT, under the supervision of DIG Yathish Chandra, is conducting a thorough cyber investigation to uncover the origin and initial circulation of the contentious screenshot.

Ribesh’s resignation coincided with the SIT intensifying its probe into the controversial screenshot, with a focus on Left-leaning cyber groups suspected of initial dissemination.
