East Bengal FC made history by winning the first SAFF Women’s Club Championship 2025 title with a 3-0 victory over Nepal’s APF at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu. The team, also the Indian Women’s League champions, had a flawless season, winning all matches without conceding a goal.
Ugandan striker Fazila Ikwaput shone in the finals, scoring both goals for East Bengal at the 21st and 46th minutes, bringing her total tournament goals to nine. Shilky Devi Hemam added a goal at the 35th minute, securing East Bengal’s dominance in the finals.
Under the guidance of coach Anthony Andrews, East Bengal topped their group in the IWL to reach the finals. Notable victories included a 4-0 win against Transport United, a 2-0 win against Karachi City, and a remarkable 7-0 win against Nasrin, where Ikwaput scored five goals.
In the group stage, APF was the only team to hold East Bengal to a draw (0-0), thanks to goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar’s outstanding performance. However, APF couldn’t replicate this in the finals.
East Bengal took control of the final match, with Ikwaput and Shilky Devi scoring before halftime to secure a 2-0 lead. Ikwaput’s second goal after halftime sealed the victory. East Bengal’s professional gameplay led them to a three-goal lead and the championship title without conceding a single goal throughout the tournament, making them the inaugural SAFF Women’s Club Championship winners.
