The Eastern Zonal Council’s Standing Committee, in its 15th meeting in Bhubaneswar, emphasized strengthening inter-state coordination and expediting the resolution of pending issues in the eastern region. Chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg, the meeting aimed to ensure effective implementation of development programs.
During the meeting, a total of 74 agenda items were discussed, including water-sharing disputes, flood management, railway infrastructure, and various governance-related issues. The committee also addressed issues like cyber security, telecom connectivity, and the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.
A key focus was on the Subarnarekha Multipurpose Project and flood-related challenges in Odisha and Jharkhand. The Water Resources Secretaries of both states were tasked to find mutually acceptable solutions. Discussions also covered telecom connectivity, banking services expansion, NHAI projects, cybercrime investigations, and progress on various schemes.
