The Election Commission of India (ECI) has prolonged the deadline for submitting claims and objections for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh until March 6. The final publication of the state’s electoral roll is scheduled for April 10, as confirmed by an official statement. Previously set from January 6 to February 6, the period for filing claims and objections was extended to March 6 at the state government’s request.

Assembly elections to select 403 legislators in Uttar Pradesh are anticipated to occur between February and March 2027. The ECI, in response to the Chief Electoral Officer’s request, has decided to extend the deadline for filing claims and objections until March 6, 2026, for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh. The revised SIR schedule for the state outlines that the Notice Phase, decision on Enumeration Forms, and resolution of claims and objections will be finalized by March 27.

The health parameters verification process is expected to conclude by April 3, with the final publication of the electoral roll set for April 10, according to a letter from the ECI to the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh. Under Secretary Sandeep Kumar, in correspondence with the CEO of Uttar Pradesh, mentioned that the Commission has revised the schedule for the ongoing SIR in Uttar Pradesh after considering the state’s request and other relevant factors. The ECI had initially announced the Special Intensive Revision in 12 States/Union Territories on October 27, 2025, including Uttar Pradesh.
