The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached 13 immovable properties valued at Rs 3.92 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in Manipur. These properties, registered in the name of M/s Birla Emporium Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Ira Finance Pvt. Ltd., are spread across Thoubal, Imphal East, and Imphal West districts. The investigation stemmed from an FIR by the CID, Imphal, related to alleged financial irregularities.
The ED’s probe revealed that the two companies, controlled by Yumnam Irabanta Singh and associates, ran an unauthorized deposit scheme akin to a financial institution without proper regulatory approvals. They purportedly amassed Rs 253 crore from over 5,500 investors, offering high monthly returns and issuing loans against property. The funds were allegedly diverted into various investments, including real estate and the stock market.
The ED’s actions have led to the attachment of a total of 219 immovable properties valued at around Rs 65.5 crore in this case. A Prosecution Complaint was filed in 2025, and the investigation is ongoing under the provisions of the PMLA. The ED’s pursuit of financial improprieties continues as it seeks to bring those involved to justice.
