The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached immovable properties valued at Rs 4.79 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. These properties are linked to a money laundering investigation concerning the illegal manufacturing and sale of Alprazolam, a psychotropic substance. The individuals whose properties have been attached include Girmagouni Sudheer, Bishweswar Singh, Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi, Bhavanigari Prabhu Vara Goud, Gajjela Sreesailam Goud, and others. These properties are located in various districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as per the ED’s Hyderabad Zonal office.
The ED’s investigation was initiated based on an FIR filed by the Gummadidala Police Station in Sangareddy district against several individuals involved in the illicit manufacturing, sale, and purchase of Alprazolam. It was discovered that Girmagouni Sudheer, along with his brother Bhavanigari Prabhuvara Goud and brother-in-law Gajjela Sreeshailam Goud, had been engaged in the commission-based buying and selling of Alprazolam since 2014. They would supply Alprazolam to toddy vendors for mixing with toddy to enhance its potency. Subsequently, with the assistance of Bishweswar Singh, they expanded this unlawful operation.
In 2023, G Sudheer Goud and Bishweswar Singh, in collaboration with Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi, acquired a factory in Hyderabad and established Stanchem Chemicals for manufacturing Alprazolam. The proceeds from the sale of Alprazolam were distributed among them based on their investments in the factory. The investigation also uncovered that the accused received the proceeds of crime in cash, which were then used for purchasing immovable properties or deposited in bank accounts to acquire properties. Cash deposits were made in their accounts and their spouses’ accounts, and properties were acquired in their names and their spouses’ names.
During searches conducted by the ED on August 21, 2025, at seven locations, incriminating documents were seized along with Indian currency, foreign currencies, gold bullion, and silver bars. The investigation is ongoing, as stated in the release.
