The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Patna has lodged a supplementary prosecution complaint related to a procurement scam at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) during 2008–09 and 2009–10. The complaint, filed on July 6, 2026, names Om Prakash Pandey of M/s Balajee Enterprises and others, continuing a previous complaint from April 28, 2022.
The ED’s investigation, triggered by an FIR and charge sheet from the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) in Patna, alleges that PMCH officials colluded with suppliers to overcharge for medicines, medical equipment, and more. This led to an estimated loss of about Rs 12.63 crore to the state exchequer during the mentioned financial years.
Assets worth around Rs 3.14 crore linked to certain individuals were previously attached by the ED as proceeds of crime. Further probing revealed additional proceeds of crime worth approximately Rs 3.01 crore, generated through inflated pricing and excessive supply of medical items in connivance with PMCH officials. The agency has now sought the confiscation of these assets.
