Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a high-level review meeting to assess the arrangements for the upcoming NEET (UG) re-examinations scheduled for June 21. Over 23 lakh candidates will participate in the re-test due to the cancellation of the May 3 exams following concerns of paper leaks. Minister Pradhan emphasized the importance of integrity and transparency in conducting the exams, urging officials to address any shortcomings from the previous process for a secure and foolproof re-examination.
The meeting was convened in response to the outcry from medical aspirants over the cancellation of NEET exams, criticizing the administration’s handling of the situation. Minister Pradhan highlighted the necessity for stringent security measures during the re-exams to prevent any irregularities. He instructed officials to collaborate with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police across states to ensure effective monitoring and implementation of exam arrangements.
To uphold the integrity of the examination process, Minister Pradhan emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and security at exam centers. He also directed officials to make adequate provisions for students, including transportation, drinking water, and other essential facilities. Various technical and administrative measures were deliberated upon during the meeting to enhance the transparency and reliability of the examination process.
The decision to conduct the NEET re-examinations was made after the discovery of leaked question papers circulating on digital platforms like WhatsApp. Minister Pradhan hinted at transitioning NEET exams from paper-based to computer format to prevent future leaks and discrepancies. The focus remains on ensuring a secure and seamless examination process for all candidates.
