Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi mentioned that Egypt is actively involved in facilitating discussions for a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. During a recent phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Al-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to engage with relevant parties in order to support a comprehensive resolution between the two nations.
President Macron, on the other hand, outlined France’s initiatives aimed at establishing sustainable peace in the region and preventing any potential chaos in the Middle East. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the open passage through the Strait of Hormuz and removing any restrictions that could hinder maritime activities.
In a separate development, US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about nearing a nuclear deal with Iran while keeping the option of military action open in case negotiations do not succeed. Trump emphasized the necessity of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, stating that the ongoing discussions aim to ensure Iran’s commitment to refraining from developing or obtaining such weapons.
Trump acknowledged the challenges in the negotiations but indicated progress towards reaching a satisfactory agreement. While preferring a diplomatic resolution, he reiterated the United States’ readiness to take action if its conditions are not met, underscoring the importance of addressing concerns related to Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
