Egypt witnessed a historic night in squash as Amina Orfi and Mostafa Asal claimed victory at the 2026 CIB Palm Hills PSA World Championships in Giza. Orfi, competing at home, defeated Nour ElSherbini in a thrilling five-game match to become the youngest women’s world champion at 18 years old. Her win prevented ElSherbini from securing a ninth World Championship title and set a record for the longest women’s World Championship match under the modern scoring system.
Orfi’s remarkable journey to the title included a tough semifinal win over World No.1 Hania El Hammamy before her epic final triumph. She now holds both the World Junior Championship and senior PSA World Championship titles simultaneously, a unique achievement in women’s squash. In the men’s final, Asal showcased his dominance by defeating Youssef Ibrahim in straight games to secure his second PSA World Championship crown and his 29th PSA Tour title.
Asal’s victory highlighted his exceptional skills and solidified his position as a leading figure in men’s squash. Despite Ibrahim’s efforts, Asal’s precision and attacking prowess proved too much to handle, securing his successful title defense and further establishing his legacy in the sport.
