The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. The final voters’ list will now be published on October 3, with July 1 as the qualifying date. Draft publication of electoral rolls is set for July 31 in both states.
House-to-house visits by BLOs will be conducted between June 1 and July 24 in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. The Election Commission of India’s Under Secretary Sandeep Kumar, in a letter to the CEOs of both states, mentioned that rationalization and re-arrangement of polling stations will be completed by July 24.
The period for filing claims and objections will run from July 31 to August 30. The notice phase or disposal of claims and objections is scheduled from July 31 to September 28. The final publication of electoral rolls will occur on October 3, as per the ECI’s directives.
In a communication to the CEOs of the two states, the ECI emphasized the need for informing all officials and officers about the revised schedule. The modified schedule will be widely publicized through various media channels, and political parties will also receive written notification about the changes.
The ECI has made it mandatory for existing voters not covered in the previous SIR to attach survey details of parents to remain on the voters’ list. New voters filling Form 6 for inclusion in the electoral rolls must also attach the SIR details of their parents. This requirement, also implemented during Bihar SIR, aims to streamline documentation for new voters.
