The Election Commission of India has adjusted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) timetable for Telangana. The door-to-door visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will now run from July 24 to August 3. Additionally, the rationalization and reorganization of polling stations have also been extended to the same dates.
Moreover, the draft publication of rolls has been postponed to August 10. The period for filing claims and objections has been rescheduled from August 10 to September 9. Furthermore, the notice phase and resolution of claims and objections will now take place from August 10 to October 10, with the final publication of rolls set for October 12.
Previously, the BLOs were conducting house-to-house enumeration from June 25 to July 24 as per the May schedule. The draft electoral roll was supposed to be released on July 31, followed by the final electoral rolls on October 1.
The latest status report on SIR indicates that BLOs have successfully distributed enumeration forms to all 3,38,26,004 voters. Notably, 54.84% of the enumeration forms have been digitized by election officials.
In response to the extension of the return period for enumeration forms, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has expressed appreciation. Owaisi anticipates that the Telangana government will issue the Family Register Certificate or Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) to the state’s electors, especially benefiting the underprivileged.
During a recent event distributing educational materials, Owaisi urged individuals with enumeration forms to promptly submit them to BLOs without delay, emphasizing the importance of meeting the deadline.
