In Punjab, electricity tariffs have been reduced, benefiting households, businesses, and industries. The new tariff structure, approved by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission, will be effective from April 1 to March 31, 2027. Domestic consumers will see a reduction of up to Rs 1.5 per unit, while commercial users and industrial units will experience decreases of up to 79 paise and 74 paise per unit, respectively.
Power Minister Sanjeev Arora highlighted that these tariff reductions aim to provide significant relief to households, support MSMEs, and enhance industrial competitiveness in Punjab. The state’s power sector, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has shown improved efficiency, with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited recording a profit of Rs 2,634 crore and securing an A+ rating. Additionally, the revised tariff structure aims to lower electricity rates for consumers while ensuring the financial stability of the power sector.
Under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has prioritized consumer-friendly electricity tariffs to promote industrial growth and economic development. Domestic consumers will continue to benefit from the government’s free electricity initiative, receiving 300 units of free electricity per month, supporting over 90% of households in Punjab.
